Onze éditions de YARHA pour donner de l’éclat au cinéma au Cameroun et dans le monde
Je suis particulièrement ravi d’être partie prenante à cette 11ème édition du Festival Yarha, en raison des préparatifs méticuleux, techniques et professionnels mis en œuvre depuis pratiquement une année par le Comité d’Organisation. La forte mobilisation et la qualité des participants présage de ce que nous nous acheminons sans aucun doute, à un moment crucial et historique du cinéma au Cameroun et dans le monde.
Je suis donc très heureux que le Département ministériel dont j’ai la charge poursuive comme à l’accoutumée son accompagnement institutionnel à l’organisation de cet important événement artistique et culturel. Un déploiement de ressources humaines et de moyens logistiques conséquent a été opéré par le Ministère des Arts et de la Culture, en vue de contribuer à la pleine réussite de ce festival. Qu’il me soit permis ici de féliciter et de saluer cette initiative louable de la Présidente de l’ONG Yarha, Promotrice du Festival Yarha, dont le dynamisme et le patriotisme font de Yarha notre fierté nationale et l’un des fleurons de la diplomatie culturelle camerounaise. C’est précisément dans cette optique que Son Excellence Monsieur Paul BIYA indique dans son ouvrage programme Pour Le Libéralisme Communautaire, je le cite : « Il faut promouvoir une culture qui soit ainsi un produit exportable, de consommation nationale et de haute compétition internationale. D’où notre choix pour une présence culturelle camerounaise effective à travers le monde.»
Ainsi, pour la onzième année consécutive, Yarha va s’ouvrir au monde et faire converger sur les Berges du Mfoundi nombre de personnalités prestigieuses du cinéma. Et puisqu’on parle de 7ème Art, il est intéressant de noter qu’au-delà du côté glamour des festivités, les festivaliers seront conviés à des réflexions sérieuses et profondes autour du thème général : « L’avenir du cinéma en Afrique, à l’ère de l’IA ». Des experts locaux et étrangers rivaliseront d’adresse pour questionner et envisager les moyens appropriés pour répondre au défi que pose la pénétration de l’IA dans nos quotidiens, nos métiers et activités, et surtout au cinéma.
Je ne voudrais pas terminer mon propos sans féliciter, au nom du Gouvernement de la République, la dynamique équipe du Festival Yarha et tous ceux qui auront œuvré à ses côtés pour faire de la semaine qui s’ouvre un succès de plus à inscrire au panthéon de la culture camerounaise.

Eleven editions of YARHA to give shine to cinema in Cameroon and around the world
I am particularly delighted to be part of this 11th edition of the Yarha Festival, due to the meticulous, technical and professional preparations implemented for almost a year by the Organising Committee. The strong mobilization and quality of the participants bodes well for what we are heading for, without a doubt, at a crucial and historic moment in cinema in Cameroon and around the world. I am therefore very pleased that the Ministerial Department for which I am responsible will continue as usual its institutional support for the organization of this important artistic and cultural event. A significant deployment of human resources and logistical means has been carried out by the Ministry of Arts and Culture, in order to contribute to the full success of this festival.
Allow me here to congratulate and salute this commendable initiative of the President of the NGO Yarha, Promoter of the Yarha Festival, whose dynamism and patriotism make Yarha our national pride and one of the jewels of Cameroonian cultural diplomacy. It is precisely in this perspective that His Excellency Mr. Paul BIYA indicates in his program book For Community Liberalism, and I quote: « It is necessary to promote a culture that is thus an exportable product, for national consumption and for high international competition. Hence our choice for an effective Cameroonian cultural presence throughout the world. »
Thus, for the eleventh consecutive year, Yarha will open up to the world and bring together a number of prestigious cinema personalities on the banks of the Mfoundi. And since we are talking about the 7th Art, it is interesting to note that beyond the glamorous side of the festivities, festival-goers will be invited to serious and in-depth reflections on the general theme: « The future of cinema in Africa, in the age of AI ». Local and foreign experts will compete with each other to question and consider the appropriate means to meet the challenge posed by the penetration of AI in our daily lives, our professions and activities, and especially in the cinema.
I would not like to end my remarks without congratulating, on behalf of the Government of the Republic, the dynamic team of the Yarha Festival and all those who have worked alongside it to make the week that is beginning one more success to be inscribed in the pantheon of Cameroonian culture.
